Fernando Cordido qualified in Medicine and Surgery (mark: excellent) and obtained his PhD (summa cum laude) at the Univer¬sity of Santiago, Spain, in 1980 and 1990, respectively. He made his Specialization in Endocrinology and Nutrition at the Fundacion Jimenez Diaz, Autonoma University, Madrid, Spain, 1982-1985.

Since 1986 he works as specialist in endocrinology and nutrition in the Spanish National Health Service. He works as Professor at the University of A Coruña since 1990. During 1992 he was Honorary Visiting Registrar at the University Hospital of Wales, UK. Presently he is Professor (Full) of Endocrinology and Nutrition, University of A Coruña, Spain.

His research interest is: Pathophysiology of Obesity and Diabetes. Neuroendocrinology and Pituitary diseases. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles, books and book chapters. He has received 10 scientific awards. He has received continuous research support as principal investigator over the last 20 years from different agencies.
