Biography:Dr. Caroline Odewumi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, FL. She has been teaching and conducting research at the University since 1993.  Among courses taught and still teaching are Biological Science, (non-science majors); General Biology (for majors); Molecular Cell Biology; Advanced Molecular Biology, and Animal Behavior. While teaching these courses, she stimulates students’ learning through classroom participation, problems solving activities, mixture grouping of students, provide students guidance through counseling, designing first class strategies for successful studying approaches, student involvement in directed research, identification of internship, and assisting in selection of graduate and/or professional schools.

Research Interest(s):Dr. Caroline Odewum research interests focus on Physiological and Molecular aspects of environmental toxicant (cadmium), specifically, she examines interactions of cadmium with mammalians biostructure and associated molecules. In recent years, she started investigating the amelioration of cadmium toxicity using both phytochemicals and non-phytochemical compounds against genotoxic and carcinogenic effects of cadmium.
