Dr Djouhri obtained his PhD in Neurophysiology at Sheffield University, UK. For his postdoctoral training, he worked for about 5 years at Edinburg University (UK) investigating the interactions between spinal cord neurons at the level of spinal cord before he moved to work for about 10 years with Prof. Sally Lawson at University of Bristol (UK) where he was interested in the role of primary afferent DRG neurons in chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain. He also worked for about a year with Prof. Michael Gold at University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA. He then moved to work for a few years at University of Liverpool (UK) before moving to King Saud University (KSA) where is he currently working as a Professor in Physiology and a director of PG studies in Department of Physiology. His current research interests include the role of ion channels and cytokines in chronic neuropathic pain including diabetic and chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain.
