Juan S Barajas-Gamboa is a Colombian-Born physician scientist. He received this Medical Doctor degree with honors from the Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga.  He completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in clinical and translational research at the UCSD Moores Cancer Center followed by a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic and Bariatric surgery at the UCSD Center for the Future of Surgery. He has already authored a clinical textbook of surgical pathology, authored several book chapters of robotic and bariatric surgery, and has had several peer-reviewed publications in high impact factor medical journals including the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), Cancer Research and Surgical Endoscopic. Moreover as a testament of his devotion to research, he serves as a reviewer, editorial board member, associate editor and senior editor for several international medical journals. He is active in the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Society American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Society of Hematology (ASH). Dr. Barajas-Gamboa’s research interests are focus on Minimally Invasive Surgery, Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, Robotic surgery and Surgical Oncology; including basic sciences/translational research and clinical outcomes research.
