Rosalba Parenti is Associate Professor of Physiology at University of Catania, Italy. She is Head of Laboratory of Molecular & Cellular Physiology at the Department of Biomedical and biotechnological sciences. She is Coordinator and Delegate of the Rector of the Center for Advanced Preclinical in vivo Research (CAPiR) of the University of Catania. She received her Ph.D. in “Neurosciences” from University of L’Aquila, Italy in 1995. Her scientific career is focused on understanding the cellular pathways and molecular modifications that can shift omeostatic cellular balance to pathological conditions.

Prof. Parenti’s research fields include mainly the following scientific interests:

-        Neuroscience:

Neurodegeneration/neuroprotection; Neuroinflammation; Development; Anatomy/functional organization of theSNC; GapJunctions.

-        Regenerative Medicine:

In vitro and in vivo models for bone/cartilage regeneration

-        Ontogeny/Cancer:

Oncofetal proteins; Experimental cancer models for antitumoral therapies; Cancer Biomarkers; Drug Delivery
